Stopping early is a result. 1. **Later payer.** Who is on the hook after this quarter, and are they in the room? “The team” is not a payer. A future hire is a payer you have not met. 2. **Landing surface.** Where does the cost actually arrive: partner margin, a regulator queue, a support queue, a renewal, an agent’s tool spend? If the surface is the same dashboard you just turned green, you have not left first order. 3. **Reversibility.** Can you unwind this in ninety days without a ceremony? If reversal requires a lawyer, a migration, or a public post, write that down before you say yes. 4. **Incentive.** What behaviour did you just pay for? A bounty on tickets closed is an incentive to close tickets. Name the second behaviour it also pays for. If you cannot produce the four answers on paper, you do not have an audit.
